Some beat me to it. No 9mm, and no optics options are a disappointment. Hopefully they will drop into the line up soon. With the Prodigy being made, we know they have slides being milled for optics, so it shouldn't be hard to do.

I was excited seeing these thinking $1300-$1600 for pricing. At nearly 2k, with all the mom, DW Specialist will likely street price at about what these actual go for. I love SA 1911s, but that will very likely be a toss up in pricing.

I've 1 local dealer that is pretty consistently 10% under MSRP on everything. Another thinks that MSRP is a starting point to go up from.

Getting a prodigy was my gateway into 1911/2011 pistols. I can say I was initially hopeful when I watched Hilton Yam’s video about this gun, but I ended up being very disappointed.

Not a fan of the cerakote, two piece guide rod, mim safety, lack of optics compatibility and mim internals.

    Booooooooo. Thumbs down.
If you're not going to learn to use the front sight properly, don't bother with it. If pointing the gun, screaming "Ahhhhh!" and cranking on the trigger is all you can learn to do, work on doing that safely. -ToddG

Aside from the two piece guide rod, isn’t that the deal with most SA 1911s though?

I think that expecting machined parts at the price point is valid. One can buy a Dan Wesson pistol with all machined parts for 200-300 dollars more than the legacy TRP.

But Springfield's cast and MIM parts on their recent guns are pretty good. And even the Professional / HRT models have always contained some MIM parts. The MIM stuff doesn't bother me a whole lot if the gun works and the overall quality is good.

These guns are definitely nice, but I wish they had a 9mm option and that they came optics ready.

Also, absolutely love my stainless TRP. It’s a great gun, and these don’t really offer much different other than the rail. It does look like the ILS is removed from the mainspring housing though (mine isn’t because it’s a CA model I believe).

That's kind of my point. I was hoping for something a little bit better, not so much more of the same. Especially with that price point.

I'm supremely satisfied with a Tisas with tool steel internals that cost me $400. I

I agree. The pricing is way off for this gun, I was just noting that SA isn’t really known for tool steel internals in their mainline production guns.

At this price, these seem like a direct competitor to the DW specialist, and I’d take a specialist over one of these any day.

That’s a lot of MIM, I’ll be sticking with my Dan Wesson’s.
