The problem with that is you then become "the reason we can't have nice things."

Ex: you are LE ( or .MIL)

Your buddy in charge of ammo hooks you up with ammo because you're a shooter and are going to shoot it to develop and maintain proficiency.

Only you sell some for what ever reason. Gun show, whatever. And lets say you are dumb enough to sell it in the original packaging, which includes a lot number.

Then I execute a warrant and recover that now partial box of ammo along with a Glock loaded with said ammo from an illegal alien felon.

The Glock is NIBIN tested and both the gun and ammo are a match to casings recovered from the scene of a drive by shooting 5 months earlier.

While the thug the Glock was seized from could have bought ammo elsewhere, the 'diverted" ammo being traced back to your organization/ duty station means you just fucked all your buddies and now nobody gets ammo.

    True story.

Not hard to source doesn't equal "not stolen."

As TGS hinted at someone finally figured out that Army CID has been a mess for decades and is now undergoing reforms/ improvements but even that blind squirrel found plenty of people buying and selling stolen gear over the last 20 years.

Locally we just had a .MIL member arrested after selling six figures worth of brass from .MIL ranges for personal gain.

    It's nothing new.

And I’m sorry, because I didn’t mean to start a shitstorm. To be perfectly, I don’t care if someone has M855A1. And I’m certainly not going to narc on people who do. I’m just legitimately curious because I’ve been read the riot act so many times about it at my gov job.
Can’t we all just enjoy Molon’s work, without the insinuations and “cop-like” probing questions… it’s like the AFT has entered the chat…..

This almost sounds like you're describing what our government does on purpose.

Every single item you find in a government supply chain is stolen, today. While stealing it back isnt any more honest, I also dont think anyone feels any more guilt, either. Let people enjoy their nice things.

So is this now the Libertarian rage porn thread or are you just being obtuse?

For what it's worth, it's a fantastic book.

I guess let me clarify this...

...I watched CNN,FOX,etc. as BILLIONS of dollars of high end kit was abandoned in AFG/IRQ. I have friends who served over there. I have signed ITAR agreements that I won't even let a non-US citizen LOOK THROUGH my NODS. I pay tens of thousands of dollars per year in federal taxes (and many on here pay way way more).

So when someone comes at me or someone like me sideways who bought some kind of ammo that our tax dollars already paid for because "YoU ShOuLDnT BuY THaT!" I feel some sort of way about it. It has nothing to do with "Libertarian" or whatever, it has to do with the absolute bullshit of sucking my tax dollars up to fund things like that when I have patients literally walk out of the hospital with potentially lethal issues "Because I don't have money for the bill", and then be told I can't buy a damn bullet because it's immoral for some reason or another. That's my issue with it.
