    Week 30: The 4567 Drill

Please read the rules before participating in this thread.

    Week 2: The 4567 Drill
results may be posted until 11:59pm EDT on Monday 30-April-2012.

designed by Chris Edwards (Glock Professional, Inc.) and Todd Louis Green
    Range: 7yd
Target: 6" circle (download pdf here)
    Start position: varies, see below
    Rounds fired: 20

The 4567 was inspired by Gila Hayes抯 𚾤″ drill and the various iterations thereof.

The drill is run four times, five rounds each, on a six inch circle, at seven yards. A shot timer is used to begin each string of fire. The four strings of fire are:

    1. draw and fire 5 rounds from concealment, two-handed
    2. draw and fire 5 rounds from concealment, strong hand only
    3. from the ready position fire 5 rounds, weak hand only
    4. draw and fire 5 rounds from concealment, two-handed (repeat of string 1)

If you cannot draw from concealment, instead begin all four strings of fire from the ready position and add three seconds to your overall score (one second for each string in which you shot from the ready instead of from concealment).

For any shot outside of the 6″ circle, add 1 second to your time. Total the times (and penalties) for all four strings to determine your overall score:

Basic score total time with penalties is 4+5+6+7 = 22 seconds
    Intermediate is 5+6+7 seconds = 18 seconds
    Advanced is 6+7 = 13 seconds

Please report the following when you post your results in this thread:
    • Starting position (concealed or ready)
    • Time and hits for each string of fire.
    • Total score (including penalties).

Training with firearms is an inherently dangerous activity. Be sure to follow all safety protocols when using firearms or practicing these drills. These drills are provided for information purposes only. Use at your own risk.

Federal AE9FP 147 gr FMJ fired from G19 w/RMR07 holstered in a OWB Fricke Gideon Elite concealed under a TNF Gore-Tex hard shell.

I ran the 4567 drill twice--once at the beginning and then at the end of a 300 rd practice session. First attempt was a clean 16.72s (3.38/4.47/5.59/3.28), this was followed by a clean 13.94s (2.76/4.09/4.39/2.70).

Ran some of my worst scores in recent memory on the three Defoor Tests. Ran the 99 Drill with a lousy first part, but cleaning up later for an 83 (20/26/28/9). Then a 468-10x on the 500 pt Aggregate. Best clean FAST was 5.52s.

    Shot from Ready

    1. 3.26
    2. 5.32 -1
    3. 8.03 -3
    4. 3.16

    Plus 3 seconds equals 22.77

I'm thinking I should slow down a bit, do some WHO practice for sure. Something to add to the goals next time I go to the range.

HK P30 from under a hoodie...

    S1: 2.73
    S2: 4.46
    S3: 3.99
    S4: 2.51
    =13.69

Previously thought a hoodie was faster than a T shirt...... well this session proved otherwise. I really had to concentrate on not getting caught up in the material. Never had this problem before. Dumped the hoodie and the timer showed from under a t shirt was about .25 faster..... very small data set but this time my feelings were right.
