Don't be too disheartened. The NB's still have a 4mm heel drop, whereas your Merrell's have none!
I just picked up a pair of these from DSW yesterday, they felt great on my feet, I prefer my salomon GTX 3 for training/everyday but so far I prefer these for running/jogging on concrete and dirt.

I founhnd after getting used to the barefoot/minimal stuff the toe box on the MT10/20 was not large enough. Supposedly addressed in the Zero's.

I ordered a pair for myself today. I like my five fingers but with the new change(or shall I say addition), you can't wear them in the Army PT uniform anymore. I normally use a pair of Nike Frees for uniform and long runs, but I want to shift to these.
I did however go to a store to try them on to get the correct size before ordering.
