You should read the idiots on Nextdoor here, there are car prowls because folks leave their cars unlocked in the driveway. Then folks post about being locked and loaded and staying up for the next ones. Or opening fire on coyotes that are common and eat your little outside doggie. If you point out the law or 'tactical' problems with such - you are a cowardly commie bastard. One wonders why there's an intensive class to get a gun. Of course, this conflicts with those wanting constitutional carry. I have quite a few retired law around me - and a low incident town. Chose that on purpose - as where I used to live - HCM continues to post shootings nearby. The kid party on our street that led to a blaze of gun shots was rather convincing to move. That with personal reasons, also. Watch the cars, when the nice cars in your 'hood' become less than nice, oops!

Live one here from NYC subway yesterday...

Still being unpacked, but best as it has been determined thus far: reportedly mental ill fare jumper melts down on subway, zeroes one individual and they end up entangled, during which a woman with the victim stabs the attacker, prompting the attacker to produce a firearm; original victim wrestles for the gun and uses it to shoot attacker, who's now in critical.

Lot going on here, not least from a self-defense standpoint. (Link goes to NY Post piece with video.)

Hain’t we got all the fools in town on our side? And ain’t that a big enough majority in any town?

Arkansas airport executive director, ATF agent wounded in Little Rock home shootout

Director of the Bill and Hillary Clinton Airport.
    How droll.

    https://www.cbsnews.com/news/little-...ured-shootout/

Federal agents were involved in a shootout early Tuesday as they tried to serve a search warrant at the Little Rock home of the person who leads the Bill and Hillary Clinton National Airport, authorities said.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives said agents were trying to serve the warrant just after 6 a.m. at a home in west Little Rock when someone inside the home fired gunshots at the agents. The agents returned fire, striking the shooter, who was identified as Bryan Malinowski, 53, the executive director for the airport.

Malinowski was treated at the scene before being taken to an area hospital, Arkansas State Police said. His condition was not immediately available later Tuesday.

An ATF agent, whose identity was not released, was also shot in the exchange of gunfire but suffered a non-life-threatening wound, officials said. The agent, too, was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

Seems the director was prominent in gun shows. To be charged with Excessive Wheeling and Dealing, maybe.

EAST FLATBUSH, Brooklyn (WABC) -- Detectives are investigating if a deadly police shooting in Brooklyn was the result of the gunman being mugged, which set off the wild chain of events on Monday evening.

Detectives said the 20-year-old gunman, identified Tuesday as Nathan Scott, may have been chasing after two people who attempted to rob him.

It all unfolded as officers responded to East 57th Street and Remsen Avenue at around 5:50 p.m. Monday.

Four officers in an unmarked car saw Scott chasing a woman and another man. NYPD officials say the suspect fired several shots at the two people.

That's when the officers jumped out of the vehicle and approximately a dozen more shots were fired. The suspect was shot by officers numerous times and pronounced dead at Kings County Hospital.
A couple of miles from where I lived when a kid. All kinds of preachy analyses could be made.

Earlier today, there was an officer-involved shooting at the Knight Complex on the Alabama
A&M University (AAMU) campus resulting in one injury. The incident occurred during a routine security check in the Knight Center and was contained within minutes. AAMU Campus Police Chief, Montrez Payton, provided the University’s official comments on the timeline of the events and announced that the investigation is now being managed by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA).
Not a shooting but a psych prof from a Baptist University in VA went missing from a FL conference - Southeastern Psychological Association Conference - but seems to have dropped dead at a men's club. Wonder if he gave his paper yet.

Ambush of two correctional officers and escape of inmate in ID. Inmate and assailant who shot the COs have now been captured.
One of the COs was critically injured; the other is expected to recover.

https://www.yahoo.com/gma/escaped-id...205500182.html is the update. https://abcnews.go.com/US/boise-idah...y?id=108316796 for the original escape story.

"An inmate who escaped from an Idaho hospital with an accomplice who opened fire on the correction officers transporting him in a "brazen" attack have been captured, Boise police said.

The Idaho Department of Correction inmate, Skylar Meade, and shooting suspect Nicholas Umphenour were located in the Twin Falls area around 2 p.m. MT Thursday, according to Boise Police Chief Ron Winegar.

They were taken into custody following a short vehicle pursuit, Winegar said.

State police are investigating two homicides that may be tied to this incident, according to Lt. Colonel Sheldon Kelley from the Idaho State Police. The homicides occurred at separate locations and involved two men, he said. Their cause of death has not been released.

The manhunt began early Wednesday, following what authorities described as a planned ambush. Meade had been transported to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise Tuesday night for treatment after engaging in "self-injurious behavior," according to Idaho Department of Correction director Josh Tewalt.

As correction officers were preparing to transport him back to the Idaho Maximum Security Institution around 2:15 a.m. Wednesday, an individual "attacked and fired" at the officers, striking two, Boise police said.

A third corrections officer was shot by a Boise officer who responded to reports of an active shooter inside the hospital's emergency department, Boise police said. The officer fired his weapon at an armed individual near the entrance who was determined to be an Idaho Department of Correction officer, police said..."

West Virginia man shot by 15-year-old son after firing weapon at wife

A15-year-old boy shot and killed his father in self-defense after the man fired a shotgun at the boy's mother and then pointed the weapon at him, West Virginia State Police said Thursday.

Maxwell Laham's wife and one child fled after he fired at her with a 12-gauge shotgun Wednesday night, according to state police called to the scene in Rock Cave.

Laham's teenage son, who was still in the house, took a 20-gauge shotgun and fled upstairs, the state police statement said. Laham followed his son and pointed his firearm at him, and the son fatally shot his father once in the chest, police said.

No other injuries were reported. The case is still under investigation.
