Was trying to get a pic of it balanced on his nose. Came out a better shot than I meant it to.

So pretended to toss him something just to catch him jumping, trying to catch nothing.

Charlie got bacon today. I drizzled the droppings in her dry food and put two cut-up slices in there for good measure. Now she won't leave the fire where it cooked. Even though the fire's out. And so's the bacon. And the rest of the food is hanging from a tree 50yd away.

"Get a German Shepherd," they said. "Smartest dog there is," they said. Well, "they" need to meet Charlie!

Tell you what, though, I sure jump less at squirrel farts and other woodsy noises at night, when she's with me.

My dog gets freshly-cooked bacon every Saturday morning.

He's like Charlie - not spoiled, just appreciated.

You cooked bacon over a wood fire in the Rockies and now you're sleeping near where you cooked it, with the leftovers hanging in a tree.

    A few weeks before hibernation.

You DO know that bacon is a gateway food, even for bears?

I thought hanging leftovers in a tree a couple dozen yards away was the accepted voodoo ritual to keep bears away? If not, Charlie better earn her keep....

    Molly shagging balls this weekend.
Not too shabby for a 12-year-old.
I wish I could get off the ground like that.
