Had some problems breaking shots before gun was properly aligned with target. Need to experiment with Hack/ProOp sights to see how far left/right in notch I can still get accurate hits.

    My New Friend Zed

    11/13/12

    CZ 75 BD 200/200

Time to breathe some life back into my journal.

    I got a new gun.

Apparently, CZs don't like aluminum cased ammo. I had three failures to eject in a single box of Blazer, but 100 rounds of Federal Champion and 50 rounds of 124 gr +p Gold Dot ran well. I read some reports that an extra power extractor spring and/or polishing the extractor will get CZs to eat aluminum cased ammo, which is good since I just took delivery of 5K of Blazer.

My first range session was more fam-fire than dedicated training due to limited time and the unfamiliar gun, but so far I'm very pleased with the way the gun shoots.

    Now I am interested.

If you went to the gun shop before the election, the selection would have been better.

J/K. I hope you enjoy it.

    4/26/13 NRA Range Practice

After shooting the DotW so poorly at the KSTG match on Tuesday, I decided to reshoot it at the beginning of my practice session.

    5.35 1.83/.82/1.80/.29/.31/.30
    4.85 1.62/.61/1.87/.26/.23/.26
    7.83 (-3B) 1.59/.69/1.81/.24/.25/.25

    =18.03

The four body shots were in a one inch group on the lower left edge of the eight inch circle. Three of the shots were actually touching and had cut through the edge of the circle, so it was difficult to score. I'm kind of flabbergasted as to how this happend, but I didn't really see my sights much because I failed to do a press-out after the reload.

I then worked on 5 shot draws at 5 yards to an eight inch circle to get used to the different recoil and trigger characteristics of the P30 after not shooting it for 2 months.

On the fourth round of a 5 shot draw I had what I think was a case head separation, though I couldn't find the case. A very large fireball came out of the ejection port. It was large enough that it was noticed by the ROs who were in the booth about 20 feet behind me. The magazine stayed in the gun and there was no noticeable frag. I disassembled and inspected the gun, but didn't find any cracking or bulging, so I shot another 50 rounds through the pistol before leaving the range. The round was a 115gr CCI Blazer TMJ (Lot #3510).

On Saturday I shot another 100 rounds through the gun with no problems.

Tonight I finally thoroughly cleaned the gun and noticed some strange marks on the top of the chamber.

I'm not sure if this was there before because the gun hasn't been cleaned recently, but I'm thinking that I should probably send the gun back to HK.

3 shot draws to 8" circle at 7 yards x10. Started at a comfortable pace and then pushed the speed to where I could confidently track the sights. Dropped 2 of the 30 shots.

Those FAST times are awesome, Josh.

    The consistency is impressive.
