His writing about what it takes to be a lawman is accurate.

Which is in-line with my distinction that there is a big difference between a "Lawman" and a "police officer". It is a status I reserve for those who we referred to as "Righteous Cops". This forum is populated with a high ratio of Lawmen.
Just a Hairy Special Snowflake supply clerk with no field experience, shooting an Asymetric carbine as a Try Hard. Snarky and easily butt hurt. Favorite animal is the Cape Buffalo....likely indicative of a personality disorder.

Glad to know they have his stuff online. Elmer, Skeeter and Col. Cooper were mentors in my formative years. Met Cooper only in his declining years at the last SHOT Show he attended. He was a Lion in Winter.

And I must add Col. Charlie Askins was a guilty pleasure.

Back in the late 80s or early 90s I gave the Hipshots book to my grandpa for Christmas only to find that grandma got him the set. I think my favorite is the story about the black hatted visitor with the Remington cane gun.

Skeeter wrote a great column on those differences for his son when he hired on with the New Mexico State Police. I've been trying to find a copy of that column for some time.

I have read his books to shreds literally. My favorite author and a personal hero and role model. His influence on me ranks up there with coaches and select few and only behind my father.
