Ive not cleaned my M&P 45 midsize since 8/24/12 when it completed the 2000 round challenge. The past 2 weeks alone I have put close to 1000 rounds through it. No issues. Ive spoken with others from across the state this week who either have M&Ps or have in some way or another been associated with an agency that issues them. There are a few agencies who have reordered newer M&Ps from Smith but the issue isnt the guns. Its delivery of the product thats the issue. Same problem we had in 2011. One of the larger agencies here ordered several hundred about a year ago and theyre still waiting. In my opinion thats unacceptable.
I realize that the M&P series is a popular weapon platform...we have had few issues with them, essentially the magazine springs and nothing else. IMO, the biggest issue they have is customer service...which can make or break your product. If they dont step up to the plate soon, they may well begin to start losing business.

I'm no fan of socialism, whether on paper or in practice. The 1911, however, was the pistol to beat for a very long time. The old GI issue Remington Rands and Ithacas would shake rattle and roll, but if lubricated, and if their mainsprings hadn't been left to rust for decades they were reliable, reasonably accurate and pretty effective. Properly set up they had a great trigger.
I wouldn't carry a 1911 today if I could carry a G19, but I think the 1911 was the king of autos for a very long time. Yes, better designs (finally) came along, but most of them owe much to the 1911.
Karl Marx was an intellectual fraud whose knowledge of history and economics was limited and whose understanding of human ontology was close to non-existent. John Browning, by contrast, was the greatest firearms designer in history (and I think he would be fascinated by the Glock's design).
I would love to hear Wilson Combat's side of the story. The idea that Wilson couldn't make their pistol right is right up there with your comparison of JMB and KM. Sounds like your expectation didn't match reality and they took the honorable way out. But if you change your mind you can stand in line for the next 24 months to wait for another.
Although I've tried a number other pistols, by round count, most of my time has been spent shooting primarily that same identical Gen 4 Glock (and later, near-duplicates thereof) that gave me FTE and BTF issues out of the box.
The difference for me between that "unreliable out of the box" pistol and the M&P 9mms I had was that Glock acknowledged and more quickly than Smith, satisfactorly addressed the issue. There were also aftermarket fixes for problem Glocks in that serial range like the Apex extractor that were (relatively) inexpensive and worked for my two pistols from the dark period of Glock extraction and ejection.
Okay, thanks.
Glad it worked out for you.

Yup--G19's....just like a lot of other folks.
