    Question .357 Magnum recommendations?

Time to update my ammo. I see Doc has suggested Winchester Partition S357P 180gr JHP load. That load is nowhere to be found with threads referencing it having been discontinued. My 357's range from 2.25-4" in barrel length. What other loads test well?

    Thanks

The forthcoming Hornady Critical Duty should be a good round

Hornady XTP is painful........which usually means good on the other side.
Just a Hairy Special Snowflake supply clerk with no field experience, shooting an Asymetric carbine as a Try Hard. Snarky and easily butt hurt. Favorite animal is the Cape Buffalo....likely indicative of a personality disorder.

Most of the old school 140-158gr JHPs work rather well. The Silvertip in .357mag was a really decent loading. The Critical Defense ain't bad.

125's. The XTP's are serious in the velocity department, and I have found that whatever they are using for powder has almost no flash in both .357 and .44 MAG.

The XTP's are my outdoors/woods loads. For city stuff, I like the Speer Gold Dots. I am using the +P .38's in my 65 and the 200 gr. .44 Special in my 296 and snub 629's.

Yes. At 145 grains, it somewhat split the difference between the heavy-recoiling 158s and the blind-and-deafen-you 125s.

^^^I've also found that 145 ST shoots to POA in my K-frames, FWIW.

I see Federal has a round loaded with the 140 grain Barnes Expander, listed as a medium game hunting round. I wonder how it would work for SD from CC handguns?
