I'll be impressed when the DeBlasio's protection detail refuses to show up to work, and when every other NYPD cop refuses to step into the void.

Not sure what you mean...don't think it was meant to be a knock out punch...just a way to demonstrate some solidarity and to send a message to some folks who appear to be letting politics warp their thought processes and actions...
Don't know what your level of expertise is on the subject, but completely and publicly disrespecting your boss in front of the beloved media is pretty toothy in my book. They have started the de-policing process with new directives from the PBA. The public turning of their backs sent a far more powerful message than any statement or policy.

I get that. But IMO it's mostly symbolic, an opening salvo as it were.

When you are a Precinct Commander and your Compstat numbers go south with crimes spiking and arrests dropping you are going to be hurting with Bratton.
