Thread: 12 ga gel test: Remington #4 buck (27 pellet)

    Good points. I agree.

It might be a good choice for apartment dwellers. My HD weapon is a suppressed SBR loaded with PPU 75 gr BTHP but our shotgun is loaded with Federal low recoil 00 buck.

    I think you are right.

It's also the choice of several people I know who live in the boonies and use the 12 gauge as a combo home defense and anti-varmint gun, loaded as the first two or three rounds on tap in the tube. 4 buck will pretty much wreck a coyote.

Thanks for this test and info, Andrew.

Chuck, do your guys still use #4? We use Federal Power-Shok #4 but have had some discussion about going to the FliteControl 00, I'd be curious in your opinion.

Why not move to FliteControl #1?

    I use some custom made #4 20ga. 2 3/4 5/8oz. 32 pellets @ 1575 fps. Very effective out to about 25 ft..

Nope on 4 buck, we went to OO buck in the '90s, various loads since then.

Funny thing about marketing, we started with a regular Winchester OO buck load, then went to a low recoil load they made. That quit being produced because no one bought it. The Federal came out with the same concept low recoil/better pattering load and called it "Tactical" and everyone had to have that stuff.........

We switched between the Federal Tactical and the Remington low recoil 8 pellet loading for awhile, then the Flightcontrol came out. We've carried that ever since. We also issue the TruBall slugs, both in low recoil flavor.

Hmm...the LE reps are pretty good about getting agencies what they need. I know SDPE usually has it on hand.

Agencies, yes. But I suspect BOM was't referring to agencies, or at least that's how I took his comment.
