Which FO Front Sight Width w Stock Rear for M&P?

Advice please: Looking to pair a FO front sight at stock height with a factory blacked out rear, but not sure what width to pick.

Pistol is a M&P 9mm w/ 4.25" barrel. It is my only firearm. My use is SD, general target shooting, classes, and light competition (plan to start USPSA this autumn.).

I've selected 10 8 FO sights, based on brand reputation, positive reviews here and the sturdy mounting of the optic. The factory rear notch is 0.140". The factory front is 0.130".

What would be your suggestion for front sight width, out of the available widths?

    Poll to follow.

    Thanks in advance.

    .125 is pretty standard.

I've been enjoying the .115/.135 TTI sights from Taran Butler.

I believe the Sevigny sights are .115/.150. Frank Proctor said he's coming out with a .125/.125. Kyle Defoor sights are .115/.150. The new Vickers sights are .125/.145.

It's really something that just needs trial and error, but a .125 is a solid starting point.

    I'd go .115" with a .140" rear.

That sounds like a good combo.

I went to a .095 Dawson FO front with the stock .125 notch rear on my CZ 75 for Production

I'm a big fan of a .125/.125 combo. Dawson fiber, Dawson adj. rear.

I would also like to try a .110/.110, or .115/.115 set up, but no one makes them and I am sufficiently happy with the .125s.

I can't stand front and rear sights of equal width. I need to see way more daylight either side of the front sight.

Both my CZs came with .125/.125 sights from the factory. Now one (75) wears a .095 front and factory rear. The ease and speed of use of that combination over the standard setup is orders of magnitude greater with zero loss of accuracy.

Pretty soon the front sight on the P-07 will be gone for something way thinner.

Whelp, no sense in agonizing over this, so I ordered a 10 8 FO sight at stock height (0.160") and the 0.100" width.

Not sure a 0.025" wider sight will make a huge difference, and meanwhile I'll be out shooting.

Plan to get the Trijicon HDs removed and the stock rear (blacked out) and new 10 8 FO installed over the next week or so.

For me, the .125/.125 combo leaves light bars about half the width on each side as the front sight width. It's not super tight, for me.

I have come to prefer the .115 front with a rear notch of .140 or larger.

    YMMV
