I would say yes, if you are a very good shooter with your 642 and the recoil doesn't bother you. For me, it's wadcutters. I'd recommend trying both out side-by-side, and then make an honest assessment. I'm personally not confident enough in making good hits with my 442 loaded with +P ammo.

Clay that makes good sense. I've shot both the wadcutters and the gold dots. The Gold Dots are a bit sharper in recoil but for me, they are very manageable.

I'd carry the 135gr Gold Dot, if it shot to my sights, and didn't beat the crap out of my arthritis.

I'd rather have a bullet that hits right where I want it to than a slightly better bullet that I have to use Kentucky windage to make it work.
