So is it a ST? John Hearne is the ST "specialist." Between following his woes and speaking with Ernest Langdon about his extractor futzing he did when he was campaigning a 220, I wouldn't be getting a stainless one unless it was current production post the ST, unless the Gray Guns fix has been vetted.
Likes pretty much everything in every caliber.
The experts will hopefully weigh in, but what I understand is that the classic slide (pre-stainless) 220s with internal extractors were fine, the ST internal extractors were all screwed up, and the current production external extractor 220s are fine (excluding the standard Sig quality issues and some possible harmony issues with stainless TLG has mentioned).

I've always loved the stainless 220s, though the only first hand experience I have is the beavertail version.
Mostly right. The early P220ST with internal extractors appear to be fine (they go back to 2002 and all of the problems) It was the later production P220ST with internal extractors that had the hit and miss quality issues. These are the guns (and the X5's) that the Gray Guns extractor fix solves. I've got mine and am very happy to have my P220Match back in working order.
If I were buying a current model Sig, I would be sorely tempted to buy the Gray Guns extractor for it. This is a non-MIM part that it an alternate replacement for the factory extractor.
