I'm not really seeing the upside to that, I have to be honest. When we live in a globalized world, dissolving foreign relations is a bad idea. Of course someone should probably tell the president that. At this point we have a guy who can pick a solid NCAA March Madness bracket in the oval office, but can't send a single clear message to our allies that we will help.

A book I read some time ago was "The Next War", a series of short scenario stories on various wars we might find ourselves in, most of them asymetric. Pretty decent book.

IMHO we have been in a slow motion WWIII for years and just haven't noticed much.

I have to admit, I got a big case of the ass this morning, when I went to check the news and the top U.S. Headlines were crap about rappers and television shows. I was pretty much ready to write the whole day off. But then, I walked down the sunny street to go to the train this morning and I saw two little girls running a lemonade stand next to the sidewalk and I thought, "Well it can't be all bad."
