For the record, my comparison was based on cost/popularity, not intrinsic mechanical prowess. However, I hereby throw myself on the mercy of the forum!!

Although I didn't get it from Bud's, this right here is the one I got. I see that they still list a new retail price of ~$250, which I think is pretty near the best deal in Christendom in a new self-loading pistol. It's a soulless little Sten gun compared to a Woodsman, Smith 41, or a High Standard, but it seems to thrive on abuse and neglect.

The Ruger Mk series is cool but, I prefer a pistol that doesn't give me a brain aneurysm when trying to reassemble it.

That's part of the reason mine languishes so long between cleanings.

The free ammo is worth more than the gun.

I was wondering about that when I saw the promo. "I wonder how many people who are hard up for deuce-deuce will take a gamble on the gat just to get the box of ammo?"

That's exactly what I thought and the main reason I want one. I actually thought it was a Shield in .22 at first glance. Even if it's a little different I still want one.

Too bad it doesn't come with a case of ammo.

IMO its a great size for a .22. I want one - if it upholds the rep of the full size. My wife just loves her Ruger SR22 (cranberry frame) and she's had many awesome top tier pistols laid at her feet and rejected them all.

Once. Will never attempt one again.
