Od have to go Taurus. I've seen some atrocities in thr PT 911. That being said Kimber isn't exactly exceptional. It's more which sucks less.
Sent via Tapatalk and still using real words.
At least Kimber *has* put out acceptable 1911 reliability on occasion. I've only lived the Taurus lie vicariously through other shooters in courses, but in both cases that I directly recall, the choking was so severe I thought the whole class was going to need the heimlich maneuver...
Ruger.......for the out of the box "inexpensive" 1911, that is where I am at these days. Don't own one, but have shot a bunch and it is my current recommendation over the current Kimbers.
Just a Hairy Special Snowflake supply clerk with no field experience, shooting an Asymetric carbine as a Try Hard. Snarky and easily butt hurt. Favorite animal is the Cape Buffalo....likely indicative of a personality disorder.
"If I had a grandpa, he would look like Delbert Belton".
Between those two choices I would buy the Kimber in an eyeblink.

Here's some PT1911 pics from two different guns owned by two different friends of mine...as a disclaimer they bought these before we became friends...
Gun 1:
The machining looks like it was done with chain saws and the investment casings were done in railroad ballast.
