Don't let your routine breed complacency. A few big things I noticed were lack of situational awareness, and task fixation, coupled with dealing with multiple goblins and no apparent preplanning. News article here.

I used to gas there every morning at about the same time when I was running a SRT unit for a protection detail. How we stood when gassing was very different and a two man operation. Place is a crap hole.
I don't know why they would mention the hoodies in the news report. Wearing a hoodie like that is a sign of angelic intentions and just turning your life around. Sad, but simply normal.
Just a Hairy Special Snowflake supply clerk with no field experience, shooting an Asymetric carbine as a Try Hard. Snarky and easily butt hurt. Favorite animal is the Cape Buffalo....likely indicative of a personality disorder.

Only a foolish person goes where angels fear to tread; 0430 hrs ... in a bad neighborhood ... with no other customers around. The dumbest of crooks excel under these circumstances.

This guy simply needs to practice the skill of avoidance by picking better times and places to do his business.
The path of least resistance will seldom get you where you need to be.

Its actually a nice station close to a major interstate. Unfortunately, the older "working class" neighborhoods around it are filled with turd gang bangers policed by a city in bankruptcy. Add to that, the street is the access point to the casino owned by the richest Indian tribe in the U.S. To say it is an interesting combo is an understatement. They have "revitalized" it enough to make it attractive and safe appearing, and this just brings the lambs to the slaughter. Keep in mind, we gassed there because it was one of the safest places to do so.........and still wasn't for the guy in the video.

Lulled into a false sense of security... I'm in that area fairly frequently, due to family and friends, but they're all in Rancho, Upland or by the beaches. Rarely do I go east of the 15.

man...that sucks. Those guys looked like they knew what they were doing. I think read it here or an article on gun nuts by Tim, but the saying "filling stations are like the watering hole in the Serengeti" rings true.
