Thread: M&P Failure - Striker Breakage

  1. #21
I missed Doug in shop on my way out of town. Stopped at another shop I knew of and they had one in stock and replaced it free of charge. Got one of the silver ones in now.

The smith asked what happened to my trigger (full trigger job). Haha he said "that's dangerous"... please.

    It's tapatalk's fault.

Gotta love MIM parts. I had the same thing happen to a SW9VE I used to have. . Hey, don't laugh, the gun was very reliable, other than the striker breakage.

The newer, more-durable silver strikers are MIM as well; there's good- and bad-quality MIM just like everything else.

Yup. But exposed to the general gunternet, one would be hard pressed to know anything other than "MIM bad".

I can explain it to you. I can’t understand it for you.

Its hard to blame people for that perception when gun companies themselves use machined vs MIM as a selling point.

Yes, sir I believe so. My limited understanding is that the melonite makes the striker, or other material, more brittle and subject to breakage with impact but I defer to your superior knowledge.

    It's a vicious and self-perpetuating cycle.
