    I was thinking you tag your "kid" in the head with a sim round, claim you wanted it to happen "on your terms". Bonus points if you yell something during action about "I brought you into this world, and I can take you out of it!"

    Alternatively you pop your "kid" in a supposedly non-vital area so he moves and the other shooter hesitates/misses. Make a "shoot the hostage" reference.
