You may do as many or as few of these drills as you wish.
Only post your results or questions about the drills in this thread. It is not intended for general discussion about drills or other people's results.
You may post results for any one drill only once per month. If you shoot a particular drill more than once, do not keep updating your results with new posts. They will be deleted without warning. However, you can post each individual drill (e.g., Drill 91 and Drill 92) separately if you do not do them all at once.
Drill 91: G&R Tactical Drill #1
Range: 10yd
Target: IDPA Target ("level 1") or NRA B8 + IDPA head ("level 2")
Start position: holstered, hands a sides
Rounds fired: 15
All shooting is from the holster and done freestyle.
- Load gun with four rounds; have spare magazine with at least one round.
- On buzzer, draw and fire four rounds to body (IDPA 8in -0 zone "level 1" or black 10/9-rings of NRA B8 "level 2")
- Reload, one round to 6x6 head box of IDPA target.
- Repeat for a total of three runs, 15 rounds
Misses to the body (-0 zone "level 1" or black of NRA B8 "level 2") add two seconds to your time. Missing the head shot is an automatic fail.
Passing time is 8 seconds or less per 5-shot run.
If you cannot draw from a holster, remove one second from the PAR time and report your score from a ready position which has the muzzle off the target by at least three feet for the beginning of each string.
Please report the following when you post your results in this thread:
- "level 1" or "level 2" attempt
- pistol and holster used
- Hits and times for each run, pass or fail

- Repeat for a total of three runs, 18 rounds
Misses to the body (-0 zone) add two seconds to your time.
Passing time is 11 seconds or less per 6-shot run.

Drill 93: Surprise Reload Drill
(originally posted 16-July-2012 as Drill 36 and was the pistol-training.com Drill of the Week 17-Feb-2008)
Range: 7 yards
Target: 8" circle
Start position: concealed
Rounds fired: 27
This drill determines how much time is added to our reload when we don't plan for it at a specific point during a string of fire.
First, establish a baseline. Draw and fire 1 round at the 8" circle, reload, and fire two more rounds at the 8" circle. Record the time for the reload (time between first and second shot). If you missed any of the three shots, repeat until you get a clean run.
Next, randomly load a total of 24 rounds into five magazines (or 23 if you've got a round in your chamber already). Make sure there are at least two rounds in each magazine.
Next, you'll work on the surprise reloads. On the buzzer you will draw and fire exactly three rounds. If at any point your gun runs dry, reload it and finish the three shots. If the pistol goes dry after the three rounds are fired, simply reload it and reholster without firing any additional shots. You should get eight reps of the 3-shot drill.
Each time you reload within the 3-shot string (as opposed to after firing all three), record the time it took you to perform the reload. Find the average of time of those reloads.
Note: you can cheat by purposely setting up your magazines to go empty at known times... in which case you might as well not do the drill.
Please report the following when responding to this thread:
Start position (concealed, retention holster, open/range holster, ready position)
Time for the first "planned" reload
Average time for the "unplanned" reloads
Number of hits (out of 72) on the 8" circle

Drill 94: The 4567 Drill
(originally posted 17-Dec-2012 as DotW #58)
designed by Chris Edwards (Glock Professional, Inc.) and Todd Louis Green
Range: 7yd
Target: 6" circle (download pdf here)
Start position: varies, see below
Rounds fired: 20
The 4567 was inspired by Gila Hayess 5Χ4″ drill and the various iterations thereof.
The drill is run four times, five rounds each, on a six inch circle, at seven yards. A shot timer is used to begin each string of fire. The four strings of fire are:
- draw and fire 5 rounds from concealment, two-handed
- draw and fire 5 rounds from concealment, strong hand only
- from the ready position fire 5 rounds, weak hand only
- draw and fire 5 rounds from concealment, two-handed (repeat of string 1)
For any shot outside of the 6″ circle, add 1 second to your time. Total the times (and penalties) for all four strings to determine your overall score:
Basic score total time with penalties is 4+5+6+7 = 22 seconds
Intermediate is 5+6+7 seconds = 18 seconds
Advanced is 6+7 = 13 seconds
