    Week 91: G&R Tactical Drill #1

    Week 91: G&R Tactical Drill #1
results may be posted until 11:59pm EST on Monday 10-March-2014.

    Range: 10yd
Target: IDPA Target ("level 1") or NRA B8 + IDPA head ("level 2")
Start position: holstered, hands a sides
    Rounds fired: 15

All shooting is from the holster and done freestyle.

    1. Load gun with four rounds; have spare magazine with at least one round.
    2. On buzzer, draw and fire four rounds to body (IDPA 8in -0 zone "level 1" or black 10/9-rings of NRA B8 "level 2")
    3. Reload, one round to 6x6 head box of IDPA target.
    4. Repeat for a total of three runs, 15 rounds

Misses to the body (-0 zone "level 1" or black of NRA B8 "level 2") add two seconds to your time. Missing the head shot is an automatic fail.

Passing time is 8 seconds or less per 5-shot run.

If you cannot draw from a holster, remove one second from the PAR time and report your score from a ready position which has the muzzle off the target by at least three feet for the beginning of each string.

Please report the following when you post your results in this thread:
    • "level 1" or "level 2" attempt
    • pistol and holster used
    • Hits and times for each run, pass or fail

Drill's creator demonstrating this and next week's DotW:

all clean, and I shot it very conservatively

then, since this might be the last DOW, rather than go gamer on a fun run, in the spirit of who the drill is named for, I decided to jock up, channel my inner most operator, visualize that the drill was in the shoot house, and shoot it like I meant it.

    clean 3.45 (1.03, .23, .24, . 22, 1.73)
Likes pretty much everything in every caliber.

    CZ Custom CZ-75 BladeTech holster
    5.79 clean pass

    6.27 clean pass

I re-shot it with a Gen 4 G-17, a Springfield P9-C compact and a Gen 3 G-17 with similar results except for the first run after I switched to the Glock. Can you say Glock trigger with hits to the left.

    All Clean.

I don't think I can do it much faster with my limited practice schedule. I tried to derail things ... but it turned out clean.

I don't really like this drill because it's easy to cheat the grip after the reload, since only one shot is required.

If it was 2 shots after the reload, it'd be a lot better - IMO, but then it'd be a FAST in rewind.
