While attending Sig armorer school earlier this year it was mentioned that there was a striker-fired pistol with a modular chassis in the works.

I sold my first HK a P30 LEM....When HK brings out a striker fired I will buy even if its the same price as the P30.
What is this gun supposed to do that a Walther PPQ/Walther PPX/P99/Glock 17-26-19-22-23/Sig P226-229-228-224-2022/M&P9-40-45-357-9c-40c-Shield /Beretta 92-92A1-96A1-M9A1-M9A1 Compact -M9 Commercial can't do?
Sig spare parts available has always been good. There are few parts for the currently manufactured guns that I can't get from TGS, or other dealers.
Heck over the years that I shot Sigs, I stocked up enough spare parts to rebuild an entire P229 except for the frame itself.
Aftermarket replacement parts is the only area that Glock and M&P has on Sig.
So if this pistol is a success I think spare parts is a non-issue. As far as after market parts, I think Gray Guns, and Apex will step up to the plate if it is a seller.
Now as far as MSRP, anyone that has been in the business knows that few dealers sell at MSRP.
What do any of those do that the others don't?
As someone who's made a point of saying that you find a Glock easier to train up for compared to a Beretta I assume you are someone who perceives a benefit to a striker fired gun. So it grants SIG entrance into a market segment where it's heretofore been absent. It's the same reason HK is developing one as well.
When the market screams that 18 airbags are better than 8, you put 18 airbags in your car even if you don't think it's actually going to deliver any benefits in terms of actual performance.
If it's truly modular, I wonder if a manual safety will be available.
