I fit a new barrel to this older Springer and today was the shakedown run. Just under 300 rounds. Ran it wet and everything checked out.

Then it was onto the soulless polymer shooting...

The sight picture is quite good. Think Warren Tactical 20 years earlier. White dot front, plain black rear.

I finally joined the 2-tone club, which is a requirement for all 1911 guys over 50. Mid 1980s Colt Combat Elite worked over by Wilson.

Checkering is fine but the next class I take I'm bringing a smooth frontstrap gun. My office worker hands were pretty smoked on the second day of shooting 25 lpi checkering.

Sorry, I didn't take a single photo all weekend. I may write up an AAR but the class was 2 solid days of shooting various drills and it was a lot of fun.

Novak's and 10-8 fiber front sights look like they'd protect the tube a little better. If I really wanted an FO front it might be worth looking into.
