I thought I recognized the dude's name; he was one of the bit players in the streak of IMPD officers featuring in OWI (Officerin' While Intoxicated) cases that started with l'affair du Bisard and finally petered out in 2014. At its height, we even had deputy prosecutors playing ethanol-fueled bumper cars up here in Broad Ripple. :eek:
Aurs had alcohol problems that came up after the shooting he was in in 2003 which is talked about here http://www.theindychannel.com/news/c...hailed-as-hero. If memory serves me right there is a family history of alcohol problems too. Does not excuse what he did but does high light one of the many problems officers face. They always said sex, money and alcohol would bring you down quicker than anything.

The above article says the Detective was called to the scene after Aurs initially fled. I wonder if he knew who the Detective was or if mistoke him for someone else ?
