News update says shooter is in custody. Does not appear to be an "Active Shooter" per se....but a shooting suspect who shot someone nearby and then fled into the school.
As an aside...this is one of those things that irritates me about modern law enforcement communications with the public. Every shooting is an 'Active Shooter',, just like every sudden violent assault is an "Ambush". Let's stop with the rhetorical flourishes already. We do ourselves no favors by calling things what they are not.
I don't mean you @HCM. Just the leadership and PIO types that put this stuff out.
ETA: by the way, I just saw this in a news feed and specifically came her knowing @HCM would already have posted something about it!
CNN is reporting two dead and a bunch of injured kids.
F-in POS.

UVALDE, Texas – Two children were killed, several were wounded, including an adult following a shooting Tuesday at an Uvalde elementary school, officials said.
In an update at 1:06 p.m. Tuesday, the Uvalde Police Department said the shooter was apprehended at Robb Elementary School, where the incident occurred.
According to a Facebook post from Uvalde Memorial Hospital, two students were brought in dead on arrival. They also said several students are being treated in the emergency room
I really hope it’s just a person that fled into the school and was caught there, but why two completely different scenarios?
Current word is 14 students and 1 teacher killed, others injured. Shooter is also reported dead.

A gunman killed 15 people – 14 of them children – at a small Texas elementary school Monday afternoon, authorities said.
Texas Gov. Greg Abbot said the shooter walked into Robb Elementary School in Uvalde around noon Central time and opened fire with a handgun. The shooter was killed by responding police, Abbot said.
"He shot and killed, horrifically, incomprehensibly, 14 students, and killed a teacher," Abbot said Monday afternoon. "He himself is deceased. It is believed that responding officers killed him."
Named here.... 18yo shooter..

Apparently shot his grandmother beforehand...

We can only hope that his punishment in eternity is commensurate with the suffering he caused on this earth.
This is demonic.
God bless those sweet innocent souls.
Anyone want to take a guess at the odds of mental health issues/medications?
Sickening. And evil. And enraging. I hope this is demon is burning now, and will for eternity.
God take the innocent ones to you, comfort those who mourn and help us prepare for if and when we confront this kind of evil.
I'd expect the shitbag also identified with some deeply fucked up corner of the internet and/or has very troubling views about violence towards women.
Incels, redpill ideology, blackpill ideology, some type of weirdly fucked up conspiracy theories or something of the like.

Oddly similar to the Sandy Hook incident in that the shooter killed a close relative before deciding to mosey on over to the school and carry out this heinous act...
Not unknown, the TX Tower shooter killed family before going to the tower. Kip Kinkel in Oregon killed family. Probably others.
Well....I was actually batching about a trend I see in Law Enforcement, not the media. The media often get things wrong for a variety of reasons.
Interestingly I just got a text from a retired partner who's in San Antonio who said up until 20 minutes ago his local news was insisting there were only 2 dead. Chaos of the initial incident and all that.
One of the online stories I read that was saying it was 1 person shot near the school, no mass shooting, suspect in custody had a person commenting on the story that their 8 year old daughter was a student at this school, and how relieved they were when they picked up their kid that it was a false alarm. Seriously, WTF is wrong with people?
Everything is chaos and I wouldn’t expect much accurate information for 24 to 48 hours.
The only thing I can say for sure is the suspect killed his grandmother prior, the shooter is dead and he was killed in a gun fight with law-enforcement.
The shooter had a photo of himself holding a PMAG on his Instagram.
There’s been a lot of miss information floating around regarding border patrol involvement.
Uvalde is a small city of about 15 to 20,000 located on Highway 90 about 85 miles west of San Antonio. It’s the main route between Del Rio and Eagle Pass (which are on the border) and San Antonio. As such there is a large border patrol presence in the area including a US border patrol station and a US border patrol interior checkpoint west of Uvalde on Highway 90. I would expect most of the local population are Hispanic and that many of them have been in Texas for generations.
Like many areas at or relatively near the border seeing marked border patrol units around town is not uncommon and border patrol frequently backs up state and local law enforcement.
Border patrol agents responded to the El Paso Walmart mass shooting and a prior school shooting in Alpine TX a few years ago.
.
Christ, what a thing. :(
F*cking people… rot in hell, dude.
Nothing confirmed but I wouldn’t be surprised if there didn’t turn out to be more then one gun involved.
There’s a photo floating around, supposedly from instagram showing the suspect with a black Pmag.
However, be cautious about social media as there are now multiple fake profiles popping up claiming to be the shooter’s.
I am at a loss for words.
What a fucking world.
Horrible shit. Poor little ones and their parents. I have 2 little ones and fuck I can only imagine what these ppl have to endure. Waking up each day without that child there anymore and no way to fix it. No way to avenge it or see someone at least go to jail (which isn’t enough anyway).
What sort of monster kills innocent children?
From Fox News:

Border Patrol agent with elite unit killed Uvalde school shooter
An agent with the Border Patrol Tactical Unit (BORTAC), a specialized unit within the U.S. Border Patrol, is believed to have shot and killed the suspected gunman who killed 18 children and at least one adult at Robb Elementary school on Tuesday in Uvalde, Texas.
The agent entered the school with a team while other law enforcement officers engaged with the suspect who was barricaded, Border Patrol sources told Fox News.
The agent was struck in the leg by either a bullet or shrapnel.
BORTAC provides immediate response to high-risk incidents requiring special skills and tactics, according to the Border Patrol. The team has full-time members based in El Paso, Texas and non-full-time members throughout the United States.
Words cannot express how heinous this incident is. Prayers for those who lost innocent children today and for the survivors who will forever be troubled. Lord help us.
Notoriety is a strong drug to a troubled mind. In my opinion, the media should be strongly reproached for putting the murderer's name and picture up for all the world to see.
I can't help but reflect on two lost pregnancies with my wife, and imagining how much more devastating it would be to lose a child at 8 or 10 years instead of 8 or 10 weeks.
I also can't help but think 'Here we go again' on the hyper-politicization and bullshit that's become all too common and tiresome with these disasters.
I deeply, deeply resent that I don't know which of those two thoughts formulated first.
This is such a heart breaker. I'm in Caldwell County, TX maybe a few hours away. I've ridden through that town quite a few times. We need to apply "Left of Boom" strategy immediately to our children's schools. Until we secure our schools with a secure perimeter barrier and secure entry points they will continue to be soft targets and be prone to attack. Our children are our most valuable asset so we need to act like it and keep them safe. It should be impossible for someone to park on the road adjacent to a school and simply walk onto the campus and hurt our children. It's unacceptable and we should all be demanding to secure our children. This school had many things in place that were in response to an attack. The strategy should be to eliminate the possibility of an attack not a response to an active shooter. A response to an active shooter attack is after actions have been taken by an active shooter and that potentially means murdered children. Lets start applying the appropriate strategy and save children's lives. Take a look at your children's school. If it doesn't have a secured perimeter with safe and secure entry points then do something about it.
The cretins that spend our tax money don’t care about actually solving problems like this. They just want funding to respond. And better streets on their side of town.
This will be used as political leverage to punish everyone who didn’t do it, and nothing will be done to change the outcome of the next one.
This is gospel truth, sadly.
Soft focus on the tragedy, and the political rhetoric will spew for day, weeks, months.
Same rhetoric that's been repeated since Columbine, yet, they'll claim funding as the cause.
God Bless the victims.
God Bless the families and relatives of...
God bless all you LEO's that have to deal with the horrors of society on a daily basis.
Waking up to another increase in the number killed was a shock. Prayers to all affected.
I've had a contract gig with a school system this school year. All schools in the system have what you want and they are still vulnerable (I will not discuss why/how). I think the only security model that would work would be based on prison systems, which would likely have its own effect on the kids.
The main issue is why people perpetrate mass attacks. I know I sound like an old goat, but there was a time when this shit didn't happen. You could buy an AR15 or HK91 without a background check and walk into the elementary school I went to unchallenged. Yet it didn't happen. There is something seriously wrong with people, and until we address that, all the security in the world won't make it better.
