Field Watch - The Islander Mitchel
Interesting to see this thread take a Field Watch turn. Like Cory, I also had a couple of Timex Expeditions back in the 90's. I think that the Hamilton Khaki Field Expedition looks awesome, but I'm not inclined to spend a grand on a watch at the moment.
Last week I ordered a Mitchel Field watch from Island Watch on Long Island, NY. I think that the watch is named after Mitchel Army Airfield (later Mitchel Air Force Base) in Long Island that was closed in the 1960's.
I had bought a sapphire crystal for my old Mako from Island Watch, and later a crystal and band for my son's Seiko. They were good to deal with. Their owner, Marc, makes frequent YouTube posts about brands he sells (including Seiko and Marathon) and on some of the watches he has made for his own brand.
The Mitchel Field watch has a case diameter of 39mm, a Seiko NH35 automatic movement, a sapphire crystal and good lume. I opted for the black model with a neon yellow second hand which is on sale for less than $200. I got it yesterday and wore it to the range today. I haven't made my mind up about the band; I may replace it with a NATO strap. But I think I am going to like the watch.
