Barndale
Back when I worked for a newspaper, I did a comic strip that ran for 2 1/2 years in the local paper. This would have in early 1990s, so it’s a bit dated. One of the characters was Dr Quack who was, of course portrayed as a duck. He dated Miss Chickadee. She was the secretary for the bank’s president. (He was Mr. Troff and was portrayed as a pig.
Anyway, here’s a couple of the strips. If it’s alright with the mods, I’ll post some more every now and again.
One of the running gags were how helpless Doc could be.

Doc and Miss Chickadee were an item from the start, but the nephew was added later. He was supposed to stay temporarily with his aunt, Miss Chickadee, while his mother was doing something. I never explained why in the strip, but at some point he was simply living with her. Then he, Doc, and Miss Chickadee became a defacto family unit. Doc and Miss Chickadee had their own houses and did not live together. If I'd kept the strip going, they'd have eventually got married.

You can see how dated this is by her using a pay phone.

Again you can see how dated it is. That's a VHS player setting on a tube TV.

This actually happened to my wife an I. We both worked at the same bank but for some reason I was off. She wanted me to run to the next town over and get something. I pulled up to the bank door and she ran out and gave me some money and a kiss. A customer who knew us and knew we were married joked about the "fast and friendly service."
